A design philosophy uninterrupted spaces with sufficient light are echoed in this project called MD House. MD House is a project for a family home on the outskirts of Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The plot area, for the requirements for the home, is quite small; so the project had to grow in height. To incorporate the large spaces, the plan is kept fairly simple and even symmetric to a certain extent.
The public areas arranged on the ground floor, while the bedrooms are on the upper floors. The living room has been kept transparent with two glass walls. The entrance to the house from the gate to the door via a ramp is visible from the living room.
The glass wall looking out to the ramp with a feature wall behind that adds further depth to the already spacious room. The second glass wall visually brings in the front garden and fountain making the external landscape a part of the house interior.
In addition to that, informal living space was crafted with a projector screen between two bedrooms on the first floor. Since the room faces north and looks directly into another residence next= door, a buffer space was consciously created with tall planters and creepers going up a screen, to enable a sense of privacy in the design.
Also, each space has its own balcony or terrace with a small area for a garden, creating their own little cocoons as if to prepare for the city expanding in this direction.
